Squad composition

How the 30-player squad breaks down by position, as published by Virginia for 2026-27. Players listed at two positions are counted at both, since they provide cover in either.

• Goalkeepers3
• Defenders9 (8)
• Midfielders9 (4)
• Forwards11 (7)

5 players are listed at two positions; the figure in brackets counts only single-position players. 3 players have no position published.

Who is leaving, and when

8 of the 30 are in their final year, so on current form that many places open up next summer — 27% of the squad. A redshirt year does not change this: a redshirt senior leaves when a senior does.

Going by position: 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, 2 forwards, 1 goalkeeper.

• Freshman5

  3 defenders1 midfielder1 without a position

• Sophomore10

  5 forwards4 midfielders3 defenders2 goalkeepers

• Junior5

  4 forwards2 midfielders

• Senior (final year)4

  2 forwards1 goalkeeper1 midfielder

• Graduate (final year)4

  3 defenders1 midfielder

Final-year groups are shown in amber. A player listed at two positions is counted under each of them, since they provide cover in either, so the positions on a row can total more than the row itself. Redshirt players are counted in the year they are listed for. 2 players have no class year published and are not counted above.

Recent results

Overall record across the last 3 seasons. Soccer is a fall sport, so each season runs from August to a championship in December of the year shown. The NCAA files them by academic year, so the 2025 season appears as 2025-26 on its own site.
