Squad composition

How the 26-player squad breaks down by position, as published by Virginia Tech for 2026-27. Players listed at two positions are counted at both, since they provide cover in either.

• Goalkeepers3
• Defenders8 (6)
• Midfielders11 (7)
• Forwards8 (6)

4 players are listed at two positions; the figure in brackets counts only single-position players.

Who is leaving, and when

4 of the 26 are in their final year, so on current form that many places open up next summer — 15% of the squad. A redshirt year does not change this: a redshirt senior leaves when a senior does.

Going by position: 3 forwards, 1 goalkeeper.

• Freshman6

  3 midfielders2 defenders1 forward

• Sophomore12

  6 midfielders4 defenders4 forwards1 goalkeeper

• Junior4

  2 defenders2 midfielders1 goalkeeper

• Senior (final year)3

  2 forwards1 goalkeeper

• Graduate (final year)1

  1 forward

Final-year groups are shown in amber. A player listed at two positions is counted under each of them, since they provide cover in either, so the positions on a row can total more than the row itself. Redshirt players are counted in the year they are listed for.

Recent results

Overall record across the last 3 seasons. Soccer is a fall sport, so each season runs from August to a championship in December of the year shown. The NCAA files them by academic year, so the 2025 season appears as 2025-26 on its own site.
