Squad composition

How the 31-player squad breaks down by position, as published by Southern Va. for 2026-27. Players listed at two positions are counted at both, since they provide cover in either.

• Goalkeepers1
• Defenders13 (12)
• Midfielders15 (9)
• Forwards8 (3)

6 players are listed at two positions; the figure in brackets counts only single-position players.

Who is leaving, and when

2 of the 31 are in their final year, so on current form that many places open up next summer — 6% of the squad. A redshirt year does not change this: a redshirt senior leaves when a senior does.

Going by position: 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender.

• Freshman17

  9 midfielders7 defenders5 forwards

• Sophomore9

  5 midfielders3 defenders3 forwards

• Junior3

  2 defenders1 midfielder

• Senior (final year)2

  1 goalkeeper1 defender

• Graduate (final year)0

Final-year groups are shown in amber. A player listed at two positions is counted under each of them, since they provide cover in either, so the positions on a row can total more than the row itself. Redshirt players are counted in the year they are listed for.

Recent results

Overall record across the last 3 seasons. Soccer is a fall sport, so each season runs from August to a championship in December of the year shown. The NCAA files them by academic year, so the 2025 season appears as 2025-26 on its own site.
